Flash cards!

January 25, 2017

Here are several sets of flash cards that are great and free. I highly recommend downloading and printing these out. There are several sets, but the treble clef and bass clef flash cards are the most necessary for most people.

Tuner

January 25, 2017

Most instruments need to be tuned fairly frequently. If you are playing a string instrument or a horn, might I recommend a handy dandy Snark clip on tuner. This thing can accurately help you tune an instrument even in the loudest room. Making sure you can properly tune your instrument each and every time you need it to sound great.

Rhythm Vocabulary Charts - Ed Sueta

January 25, 2017

This is the main set of charts I use to help students of any instrument learn and internalize rhythms. There is no staff, just quarter notes and the like for practicing rhythm. This link is a link to Ed Sueta's site where he has a protected PDF of the book.

Piano books for ages 7+

January 25, 2017

Here are a couple links to the piano books I recommend for most students. For pre staff reading, I recommend using the Noona series, which is not linked here. For everything else, I recommend the Faber series. I generally only require the Lessons book, linked in the image above, but if you want to go above and beyond the full set of four level 1 books are also linked below.

Finally, a reliable piano tuner

January 25, 2017

Collins Piano tuning is great. Brent is a good guy who knows what he's doing. A pitch raise is included in the price of tuning, unlike most other tuners. He also does this full time so you know he is actually dedicated to doing a good job for you. Many other piano tuners have long response times and higher rates since this is a part time gig for them. I highly recommend his services.
